Euphrosyne - Sum Of Choices (Demo)
These guys sent us a two song demo of their talents. There is some real promise in these guys. Fates Warning styled prog metal but with their own sound. Little Queensryche flavor in there as well.

Between the two songs there is about 7 minutes of material here. The sounds are cool and the musicianship is pretty good too.

They suffer from a poor vocalist though and the songwriting needs some more maturity. The ideas are great, they just need to be honed a little more and they need to find some melodies and repeat them more often than they do. It's a little jerky and unfocused. Even the old verse- chorus- verse- chorus formula of songwriting is used to great effect in the prog world. Just look at O.S.I. and Dream Theater for examples of this. They know how to write good memorable songs as well as foray into progressive feats of master musicianship but always in subservience to the song! That's the lesson these guys need to learn and time will find them on the top of the progressive metal game if they do so. The vocalist either needs to find his voice or leave the band so they can move forward. It's a harsh statement i know but it is the truth. I think perhaps he could sing well but he hasn't found his voice yet.

www.euphrosyne.net is where you can find out more and hear the full versions of the two songs I got as a promo.
