Condition Red - II
Anyone who is a fan and has heard Lars Eric Mattsson dance on his guitar will know what to expect here. Colorful, sweeping guitar licks and out of this world compositions. Well have no fear for that is what he does with his Condition Red project. 13 tracks of some really diverse and cool Neo Prog Metal. He added vocalist/violinist Ella Grussner to the mix this time. As a vocalist i think this was a mistake, as a violinist it is good. While she can sing a bit it is really not so good. Possibly the songs are out of her key or something but other than that possibility the melodies are lacking and she is doing that sing/speak thing that annoys the shit out of me! Track 10 "Your Freedom" is the only song she does well and it sounds like a better key register for her voice, plus it has a melody you can remember and recognise!

There are plenty of Lars' instrumentals to break things up and the vocals shouldn't be the sole reason you don't pick this up. There are as many prog variations as you can think of and then some!

Stand out tracks include: Cycles, Your Freedom, and the blistering Train Insane. Go on over to Lion Music's website www.lionmusic.com to hear some samples and to order it if you like it. It's Lars own label in case you didn't know and there are some other great prog rock and metal acts on there as well.
