Superfly 69 - Dummy of the Day (sampler)

After listening to this sampler I find it impossible to label Superfly 69. The sampler contains 2 full songs and 2 cut versions giving a taste of this German band.

Mine all Mine opens with a razor sharp guitar sound. Immediately I got associations to Knives from Therapy's masterpiece "Troublegum". The song isn't a catchy as Therapy's material, but still a pretty good tune. Luckily the vocalist doesn't have the characteristic German accent.

Dumbass is far different from Mine All Mine since the song is up-tempo punk with a twist of Hard Core.

One & a Million Times is a more ordinary rock tune. Once again the band surprises me with a style close to Nu-Breed Rock. You cannot help thinking when Good Charlotte can get a hit, why shouldn't Superfly 69. One & a Million Times has a great melody line.

The sampler ends with the mellow Final Call. A shame that this is a cut version since it's my favorite. A moody guitar drives the song and provides Final Call with a great atmosphere.

The production is good giving Superfly 69 a sound that should be able to reach the masses.

Overall a pleasant surprise.

Since the songs included are so different it is impossible to judge Superfly 69 by only listening to 2 full length-songs.
