Sixty-10 - Sixty-10
This is the debut album from the Florida based melodic rockers Sixty-10. The group have recorded this impressive debut in only 5 days and even managed to get an excellent sounding product with the help of producer Chip Z´nuff.

The album opener Mr. Sunshine is the most catchy song on the album. The track is a happy up-tempo song defining the Sixty-10 trademark namely great vocals and lots of harmonies. This is the single that the band would like to push. A wise decision but after the album has been growing on me I find better tracks on the disc.

Top tracks are Good Luck Goodbye with a strong chorus, which easily could be penned by Enuff Z´nuff. That is one of the highest praises you can get from me. Speaking of Enuff Z´nuff I will Never Let You go gives me cold chills, because sometimes singer Adam Randall is hitting notes that sounds exactly like vocal-god Donnie Vie.

Other album highlights are Always be the Same and Somebody Out There. Always be the Same has some excellent vocal harmonies and a great guitar solo, which really suits Sixty-10. Sometimes the songs can be a bit too polished - therefore it is nice with a good guitar solo. It makes the music a bit rawer without losing melody.

My first impression was that this cd was too catchy and commercial. I had serious doubts that you would easily get tired of it. Luckily I was wrong because 3 months after I am still spinning the album regularly. The album is very consistent with only one weak track Memory Lane. The rest of the album is pure melodic power pop packed with potential hit-singles.

It is no secret that Enuff Z'nuff are my favorite band and Sixty-10 sound like a more mellow version of Enuff Z'nuff. Sometimes the harmonies are exactly like the ones that Chip and Donnie master so perfectly. Since Chip Z´nuff produced the album it is hard not to mention all the Enuff Z´nuff similarities all the time.

Even though Sixty-10 are influenced by the likes of Enuff Z'nuff, Cheap Trick, Beatles and Badfinger they have tried to create their own style within this type of music. Not an easy task but Sixty-10 have succeeded in doing that.

Sixty-10's debut album can be purchased from Stoney Records or visit the Sixty-10 homepage.
