Schenker Barden Acoustic Project - Gipsy Lady
Michael Schenker already released a couple of acoustic instrumental albums. Originally this was supposed to be another album in the "Thank you" serie, but this time Schenker brought in Gary Barden to play along.

Barden added lyrics and vocals. His melodies lines really suit the songs. Furthermore Michael Voss was also added to the project to provide more body to the guitars and also playing bass. Voss ahs also co- produced the album with Schenker.

Overall the album sounds very warm and comforting. The Barden Schenker project isn't a counterpart to McAuley Schenker Groups unplugged album. This is all new material with great arrangements - Dance Lady Gipsy, Hungry and Can't Live on Love Alone need to be highlighted.

I always had a love/hate relationship with Gary Barden, but he sounds fantastic on this release. The loose acoustic vibe really suits him or is it the other way around?

The only miss is Fight for Freedom, which sounds like a relic from Irish folk music with celtic tones.

The album wins after several listens and grows on you. Some of these songs were featured on Michael Schenker "Thank you 4". The arrangements are top class and kudos to everyone involved in making this record, which certainly surpassed the expectations. It is so good to see Schenker back - high and dry.
