Joe Bonamassa - The Ballad of John Henry
Blues prodigy Joe Bonamassa is a productive gentleman releasing his fourth album in only 4 years. Bonamassa is the savoir of Blues Rock and a fine expounder of this style. Bonamassa has penned 7 of the album's 12 tracks and the rest is Bonamassa's take on covers. The most unexpected is also the album highlight; Tom Waits' Jockey Full of Bourbon.

Bonamassa is a skilled guitarist, but this album also underlines his abilities as vocalist and song writer. Bonamassa's voice has a warm tone with a Paul Rodgers glow. The title track proves that he doesn't have to rely on so many cover songs, since his self penned tunes only understates this guy is talented. The biggest blockage of this album is that some songs seem a bit too long. Mainly the last part of the songs sounds a bit too much like a jam session.

I need to dig into his discography because "The ballad of John Henry" is an optimistic Blues album.

Joe Bonamassa is a modern day troubadour. His audience is not limited to Blues fanatics since his flair for melodies reaches beyond Blues freaks.
