Bullet Train Blast - Second Chance
It's quite seldom to stumble across a Danish Hard Rock band. However, Bullet Train Blast hails from Denmark and plays old School Hard Rock founded on the 80's scene but with a contemporary feel.

"Second Chance" is recorded by Tommy Hansen in his Jailhouse studios. Tommy Hansen was responsible for Helloween's "Keeper of the Seven Keys" and other references include Pretty Maids and TNT. Common for all Tommy Hansen productions is a powerful sound. Bullet Train Blast is no exception and their music is suited by a punchy sound, which leaves room for all instruments. The guitars and vocals are up-front just like Rock N' Roll music should be.

One of the highlights is opener Still Going Down. The chorus is bouncy and the lead guitar breaks are marked by a warm Les Paul "Slash" sound. Singer Bjorn P. hits some high notes on Run Baby Run which drags parallels back to a time when "Appetite For Destruction" and "Dr. Feelgood" ruled the charts. The chorus is brilliant and Run Baby Run ranks among the best songs. The ballad Dirty Miss Daisy is another highlight. The dusty cowboy feel makes it perfect for a mixtape when driving across USA in a big Cadillac.

The album looses pace halfway through. "Second Chance" needs a few more up tempo tunes and more consistent song writing. Songs like So Sexy and Painfilled Eyes doesn't reach the same standard as album highlights.

"Second Chance" is quite diverse. The saxophone and trombone on Evertime I go By backfires since it makes the song cheesy. Bullet Train Blast should not try to push boundaries but rather stick to their guns. The band sounds best using the classic Rock N' Roll ingredients namely guitars, bass and drums.

"Second Chance" is a worthy debut album. The musicians are experienced and especially the two guitarists are the driving force of Bullet Train Blast.

There is potential and Bullet Train Blast is one to watch. There might be some hits and misses, but the good stuff (Run Baby Run, Still Going, Down, Dirty Miss Daisy and One of the Good Days of My Life) outweighs the unconvincing.
