Thunder - Rock City 6 - The Smell of Snow
Rock City 6 - The smell of Snow" includes the highlights from Thunder's Christmas party and this time the concert is split between a semi acoustic set and an electric set.

The bands unique chemistry filter through all songs. Bowes´ soulful vocals get the accompaniment it truly deserves. The joy of playing is the driving force and that joy is transferred perfectly into disc.

All the semi acoustic songs are excellent and highlights are Don't Wanna Talk about Love and My Darkest Hour from the latest album "Robert Johnson's Tombstone". The arrangement for Don't Wanna Talk about Love is a bit more laid back but without losing groove. The emotional All I ever Wanted is a rarely played - its off the "forgotten" and overlooked "Giving the Game Away", which just proves the strength of Thunder's back catalogue.

Gentleman Danny Bowes cracks several jokes and apologies to fans of Bowie and Free before Thunder plays covers of the respective bands. No need to apologize! The covers are played with warm passion and especially Bowie's Starman sounds great.

The electric section opens with The Devil Made me Do it and live the song unfolds its full potential - everytime I listen to that song I have the hilarious video in mind. Check it out at this link.

The electric set includes too many covers; Deep Purple´s Sail Away, Stones´ Tumling Dice, River Deep Mountain high and Lennons Merry X-mas War is over. Unfortunately Its all about You didn't make the cut to disc even though Thunder performed the song. However, there is no complaining since the setlist is even stronger than last years Christmas album.

Joyful is the right word to describe this Thunder CD. You can only buy this great Christmas CD through Thunders website and the product is very professional with artwork and 8 page booklet.
