Diamond Dogs - Among The Non Believers
Diamond Dogs is a Swedish band featuring Bobby Lee Fett from the brilliant band "The Hellacopters". Diamond Dogs plays kick ass Rock ´n´ Roll layered with lots of guitars combined with piano/organ. Singer Sulo has a raspy voice, which is a mix between Bon Scott and Rod Stewart. The musical style is not very original but well played. "Among The Non Believers" is the mini debut album from Diamond Dogs.

The album opens with the up-tempo rocker "Bite Off", which is a cool track with a traditional Chuck Berry Rock ´n´ Roll Riff. The song sets the mood for the CD: Party Rock ´n´ Roll with lots of guitars, which makes it impossible to sit still. Next song is "Weekend Monster", which is another kick ass Rocker again with a classic guitar riff and a very melodic chorus.

After two fast Rockers "Lunatic Eye-Rolling Delivery" slows the tempo down a bit. This song has a groovy feel to it, which reminds a little bit of Black Crowes and Quireboys. In this song the organ is the most dominating instrument. Probably the most polished track until the guitar solo, which has a raw sound to it. The forth track "Position Right Here" is another melodic Rocker. Very symbolic the album ends with a short track, which is just one long guitar solo with the piano banging in the background.

This is a great album with straight Rock ´n´ Roll without any bullshit. Since the album only contains 5 tracks and a total playing time of 16 minutes I cannot rate it higher than 6. I had the pleasure of seeing Diamond Dogs Live in London at Camden Underworld warming up for Enuff Z´nuff in May 2001. This type of music has to be experienced in concert. Great debut and I am excited to follow their career.
