Logan's Heroes - War for #1 has just begun
"War for #1 has just begun" is the second EP from Logan's Heroes. Compared to their self titled demo the sound has more body on this one and there is more lead guitar. Keeping me Down is a repetition from the first EP, however, the song underlines that guitarist Derek Frigo is much more visible on this record. Frigo adds some cool wah-wah playing on the intro, which also is heard on Nothing We can Do and What About us. Frigo really spices things up compared to the debut with his wah-wah/flanger sound.

All songs are up-tempo and kick ass. Personal favorite is the in-your-face Lost & Found with its catchy chorus. The guitar plays a cool melody line instead of chords only. No shredding but melodic focus instead.

Logan Raskin's vocals are very special and not digestive for anyone. I think his style oozes lots of upper lip attitude, which is perfect for this punk rock style. The structure of the songs is mostly a mellow verse with only bass, drum and vocals - thereafter a full blast guitar takes over for the fast chorus. Logan's Heroes' music is characterized as melodic with an alternative edge all boiled together with attitude and a solid rock sound.

Led by Brothers Logan and Roger Raskin and former Enuff Z'Nuff members Vik Foxx and Derek Frigo, Logan's Heroes really was a breath of fresh air to the music industry and Rock in particular. The band had huge potential with their catchy tunes and great musicians. However, the sudden death of lead guitarist Derek Frigo caused Vik Foxx to leave the band and the future of Logan's Heroes is unknown.

Both Logan's Heroes discs are highly recommendable for fans of fresh punky Hard Rock.

"War for # 1 has just begun" has a playing time of 16 minutes.

In memory of Derek Frigo - one of my all time top 3 favorite guitarists.
