Pretty Boy Floyd - Size Really Does Matter
Pretty Boy Floyd is finally back with new material. The US label Perris Records have released several CD's containing demos and unreleased material, but this is a brand new studio release with new songs. From the original line up only remaining member is vocalist Steve "Sex" Summers. Steve Summers' strong vocals are the absolute highlight on "Size really does matter".

Pretty Boy Floyd just came off the Metal Sludge Tour with Faster Pussycat and Enuff Z'Nuff. The band sounds tight and the material is really strong. My main objection is the lousy and toothless production. I am aware that it's probably recorded with a slender budget, but it sounds powerless. Nothing like the Howard Benson production on "Leather Boyz with Electric Toyz". Only Steve Summers' strong vocals hold up the overall impression of the sound.

"Size really does matter" is released on English label TB Records, which stalls some really great Hard Rock/Glam bands. When peeled down to the songs themselves, the 38 minutes of material is quite strong. The style is classic Pretty Boy Floyd, equal 80' Glam. The album opener Dead sounds like Pretty Boy Floyd never been away from the scene.

Highlights include Suicide with a short piano middle play doing the melody line. I love the lyrics for Earth Girls, since it could be a Pretty Boy Floyd's biography about life on the road. It also incorporates a mention of the godfathers Mötley Crüe. The 2 ballads 2Heads2Faces and 727 plus the up-tempo rocker Things I said are also memorable tracks and great additions to the Pretty Boy Floyd catalogue.

Since Pretty Boy Floyd are so true to their style, of course there are a few cliches. Mainly the title "Size Really Does Matter" and also the guitar solo on Another Day (in the Death of America) , which is the national anthem performed on a distorted guitar.

Overall it's a tight collection of 10 songs, which won't disappoint any Pretty Boy Floyd fan. The record looses a grade caused by the thin production. In my opinion Pretty Boy Floyd's trademark is Steve Summers and he sounds better than ever on this record.
